About the Event

The Yarmouth County Museum is excited to be presenting a series of Wednesday afternoon demonstrations on Lost Arts (Almost). These free programs start at 2:00pm on the following dates with the following presenters: 

Tena Elliot of Ross Farms- July 6th on Hat Making

Daniel Thimot- July 13th on Basket Making

Sundae Weiser July 20th on Weaving

Sue Fuller & Susan Winship on July 27th -Braided Mats

This coincides with the exhibit "Lost Arts (Almost) on display for the month of July. This exhibit highlights some of the arts/crafts that are no longer practiced, very rarely practiced, or that are making a comeback.

The Yarmouth County Museum and Archives, owned by the Yarmouth County Historical Society stands on Mi’kma’ki (Mi’kmaq Territory) and supports culture, education, and arts on this land. We strive for meaningful partnerships with all the peoples of this province as we continue to live and work here. Through the Peace and Friendship Treaties, which the Mi’kmaq, Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet), and Passamaquoddy Peoples first signed with the British Crown in 1725-1726, there was no surrender of lands nor resources. Agreements within these Treaties outline a path for the ongoing relationship between Nations in mutual respect.
